Performing Arts Graduate Boarding Tutor - Residential

The Opportunity

ABOUT THE ROLE
Each Graduate Boarding Tutor is attached to one of our Boarding Houses and is a vital part of the House Staff Team along with the Housemistress and Deputy Housemistress. This allows for strong relationships to be formed with the boarders under their care which enables them to flourish, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. 
As part of the post there will be duties as a Graduate Boarding Tutor for three nights a week plus two weekends to be worked every term in our welcoming boarding houses.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic graduate looking for her first role in an exciting and challenging environment. The successful candidate will have a good Drama/Performing Arts degree, have a passion for the Arts as a whole and have a desire to enhance our pupils’ education. The role involves supporting the Arts staff teams and supervising learners in the Arts areas of the School, particularly the Drama Department. There are opportunities to support lessons within the curriculum, extra-curricular work and run clubs and activities within the extended school day or in the boarding house. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • To follow a timetable assigned by the Head of Expressive Arts  
  • To run and/or support after-school and evening sessions during the term; including part of the weekend if required To monitor attendance of such sessions and ensure non-attendance is followed up and recorded 
  • To take responsibility for specific tasks within the departments – this could include collating evidence of classwork, support with music or projections for shows or the social media relating to Drama activities
  • To mentor Performing Arts Scholars and Prefects
  • Assist in the Classroom within and outside the curriculum
  • Assist with individual/group work across the curriculum, as requested by the Head of Expressive Arts 
  • Where applicable, to take small groups or individuals for extra tuition as requested (e.g. support with coursework, practical examination work) 
  • Assist the Expressive Arts Administrator as required 
  • Delegated responsibility for displays, notice boards and other communication as appropriate 
  • Carry out Graduate Tutor duties and supervise students as required 
  • Support Extra-Curricular Activities 
  • Assist with Expressive Arts clubs, rehearsals, performances, assemblies, workshops and productions as appropriate Act as a role-model for our Arts students and Boarders 
  • Support the Boarding Environment 
  • To promote and actively support the boarding life of the school, including working three evenings with overnight duties per week, plus 2 weekends to be worked every term in the boarding Houses as directed by the Director of Boarding
