Nursery Manager

The Opportunity

As part of a dedicated team of Little Knellies staff you will be responsible for the provision of care and education of nursery children and the overall management of the nursery provision at The Abbey.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that all nursery children receive the very best experience and are able to celebrate and enjoy the experience.
  • Work closely with the School’s Director of Compliance to ensure that all Early Years’ regulatory requirements are met in accordance with the Government national legislation and ISI standards and that the nursery is inspection ready.
  • Ensure the wellbeing, safety, security and care of the children.
  • Plan and implement an offering that celebrates the diversity of the school and enables the children to thrive developmentally.
  • Assess and record the student’s personal, social, emotional, physical and academic development.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to ensure that children are welcomed and supported and have a positive experience of growing and learning at The Abbey.
  • Manage the nursery staffing team ensuring all professional development and training is undertaken.
  • Review and update nursery policies ensuring that they are uptodate and reflect any statutory changes.
  • Liaise with the School’s DSL with regards to any safeguarding requirements and wider liaison with partnership agencies.
  • Collaborate with our Marketing and Admissions team to provide regular opportunities for families to visit Little Knellies.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by the JS Head.

Candidate Requirements

  • A genuine love and passion for working within Early Years and creating a sense of joy, fun and creativity for the children in our nursery environment.
  • An enthusiastic and proactive leader who has an excellent understanding, application and delivery of Early Years education, particularly within a nursery setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt communication styles and approaches with different groups/individuals.
  • A commitment to team working and supporting colleagues in working together to ensure continuous improvement and the delivery of high levels of achievement and attainment for all children.
  • Flexible, creative problem-solving skills to adapt to market needs and the school’s ongoing development plan.
  • An appreciation of the need to market Little Knellies to all stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Level 6 equivalent Childcare qualification (e.g. Bachelor’s degree, NVQ5, EYTS, QTS)
  • Recent and relevant management experience within a nursery or childcare setting.
