Netball Coach (part-time)

The Opportunity

Winchester College are looking to appoint a highly professional netball player to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging netball sessions that develop the physical, technical, and tactical skills of pupils of all abilities. The coach will foster a lifelong love of the sport, maintain excellent standards of sportsmanship, and prepare teams to compete and enjoy their school fixtures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching & Delivery

  • Plan and deliver dynamic and progressive netball training sessions appropriate to the ability of the squads.
  • Support the Wincoll staff at home and away fixtures (predominantly midweek and Saturdays), providing support in pre-match warm-ups, tactical team talks, and in-game adjustments.
  • Umpire matches and officiate competitive fixtures to a high standard, enforcing rules and promoting fair play.
  • Monitor and assess player progress, providing constructive feedback to enhance individual technique and team gameplay.

Welfare & Safeguarding

  • Act as a positive role model, promoting discipline, physical well-being, and a positive mental attitude.
  • Comply with the school’s Child Protection Policy at all times, reporting any welfare concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

PERSON SPECIFICATION AND KEY QUALITIES

Essential:

  • England Netball Coaching Qualification Level 1 (minimum)
  • Previous experience working with students or working with a school /sports club/team
  • Knowledge and understanding of Netball good coaching practice.
  • Have good communication skills with students, staff and parents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and to be able to work well within a team environment.

Desirable:

  • England Netball Level 2 or higher Qualification
  • C Umpire or above
  • Minibus license
  • First aid trained
  • Have coached and or played to a representative level or higher – county level etc.
  • Sound understanding of basic principles of training, exercise prescription, training and coaching methods Level 1/2 or similar
  • Have coached to a representative level or higher.

Start Date - a flexible start date for the right candidate with preference for commencement at the beginning of the next academic year, 01 09 2026

Hours of Work - this is a zero-hours position, typically 4-10 hours per week including weekend/midweek fixtures, during term-time only, and such other hours as are reasonably necessary to meet the needs of the College and the demands of the role.

Salary - the hourly rate is between £27.00 - £35.00 plus holiday pay for each hour worked. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

As this is a zero-hour position, the postholder will be offered work when it is available; the amount of work offered may vary.?The College is under no obligation to provide work.?Hours worked are recorded on a monthly timesheet.?The postholder pay will be paid monthly in arrears to their nominated bank or building society account.???
