Today marks David Woodgate's final day as Chief Executive of ISBA
30 June 2026
After ten years of dedicated leadership, David leaves the Association having helped shape not only ISBA, but also the wider independent school sector through a period of extraordinary change.
From supporting members through the challenges of Covid, VAT and pension reform to growing our membership, strengthening our advice and guidance, expanding professional development and helping establish ISBA as a trusted voice across the sector, his contribution has been significant. As David reflects in his farewell interview, what makes him most proud is seeing ISBA become "at the forefront of the business side of independent education" and in a strong position for the future.

Throughout his time with ISBA, David championed collaboration, professionalism and the importance of supporting those working behind the scenes in independent schools.
On behalf of everyone at ISBA, we thank David for his leadership and commitment to the sector and look forward to Catherine Spencer OBE leading the Association into its next chapter.
