Teacher of Mathematics - Maternity Cover

The Opportunity

Teacher of Mathematics

Maternity Cover From January 2025

This is an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics to join a large, forward-thinking and high-achieving department, in an outstanding School.

The vacancy is for a Maternity Cover post, from January 2025 and can be either full-time or part-time.

Over 300 Hampton boys study Mathematics in the Sixth Form, of whom 130 take Further Mathematics. The Department is renowned as one of the best in the country. Our young mathematicians have in recent years been crowned champions in the prestigious UK Maths Team Challenge and the Hans Woyda competition, they excel in individual competitions such as the British Maths Olympiad and many go on to read Mathematics at top Universities.

The School is proud of its large and vibrant Maths Department who are all passionate about their subject and help ensure every boy achieves to the best of his ability. In this academically selective school, the challenges include stretching the most able up to Oxbridge level, therefore the ability to teach Mathematics up to and including Further Mathematics and Oxbridge entrance with confidence is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach up to 30 (40 minute) lessons per week, which would usually include a games afternoon and a form tutor period.

A contribution to the wider life of the School is also expected from staff at Hampton and Teachers may be responsible to other colleagues in their work, (e.g. a Form Tutor will have the Head of Year as their immediate line manager for pastoral work).

Further details of the post can be found in the attached job description and by visiting the Hampton School website.

We encourage applications as soon as possible as the School reserves the right to commence or complete the interview process at any time prior to the closing date.

Hampton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful applicant will be subject to child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and an enhanced disclosure through the DBS. The post holder's responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School's Safeguarding Policy and Procedures at all times. Hampton School is an Equal Opportunities Employer. Hampton School is a Registered Charity No 1120005. Company No 06264434.
